Noemi Fernandez
Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Los Angeles County
Hello, I’m Noemí Fernández (she/they) and I’m a licensed clinical social worker in California #97903, Colorado #09928262, and Texas #107902. I’m a child of immigrant parents, a first-gen college graduate, and a non-binary queer woman. Raised in a predominantly Latino neighborhood in southeast Los Ángeles, I navigated various challenges and obstacles related to cultural expectations, identity, and limited resources. Despite facing numerous social, financial, and academic barriers, I persevered with strong encouragement from my parents. The culmination of these experiences have profoundly shaped me, and I take pride in my culture and community. They serve as inspiration for my therapy practice today.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in sociology from UC Santa Barbara and my master’s degree in social work from CSU Long Beach (Go Gauchos & Go Beach!) Serendipitous events, too many to list, guided me toward a career in mental health care. Through my experience providing therapy to adolescents and adults in diverse settings, I’ve acquired a wide range of skills.
In late June of 2021, after finding myself feeling burned out, I made the decision to leave my job to pursue my long-term goal of starting my private practice. I founded Stillness Therapy®, guided by my core values of acceptance, curiosity, duality, fluidity, openness, social justice, transparency, and the concept of stillness as a healing practice. My mission and purpose is to help women, queer individuals, and adult children of immigrants who are seeking clarity about their life, dreams, and aspirations. Stillness Therapy® operates on the belief that self-awareness, though painful and uncomfortable, is profoundly transformative. While part of my approach is evidence based, I view therapy more as an art—a spiritual and poetic quest.
In my free time, I enjoy practicing stillness through resting, yoga (with Adrienne), and intuitive journaling. I also enjoy reading, cooking, nurturing my plants, immersing myself in music and poetry, playing video games, and spending quality time with my loved ones including my two cats: Canela, a friendly orange tabby, and Blue, a timid Russian blue.
