What is Brainspotting? 🪄
Brainspotting is a somatic therapy approach that uses a pointer and a specific eye position to help access and process unprocessed trauma and anything that activates the central nervous system.
How Does Brainspotting Work? 🧠
A “brainspot” is a specific eye position connected to where a difficult memory or experience is being held, often in deeper, subcortical regions that talk therapy alone may not always reach. The goal is to support the brain in accessing and processing what’s stored there — the memory, the pain, the sensation, the discomfort.
Some sessions also use bilateral sound (calming audio through headphones) alongside the eye position to support processing. Through this focused mindfulness experience, you may develop more presence and learn about your body’s natural healing abilities.
Who is Brainspotting For?
Anyone with lived experience and a central nervous system. Brainspotting can be helpful for a variety of things like trauma, interpersonal issues, anxiety, chronic pain, depression, performance, creativity blocks, and motivation.
